Ask your school for support if you need it. Find out what's available. Keep looking until you find what you need. You are not alone!

Ask for Support

Many single moms say it's hard to ask for support. You might feel you have to be strong and handle everything yourself. Or you might be afraid to ask for support because the school will treat you or your children differently. Or you might feel alone and that no one can help. Sometimes all you need is advice and information. But other times you might need more.

Remember

You have the right to ask for support or any services available at your school for low-income families. You're as important as everyone else. You deserve support!

Find out what's available at your school. Ask for confidentiality. Find a private place to ask for support and services. Find someone at the school that you trust. Ask other moms for the names of staff that have helped them.

For your child's sake, it's always important to find out what's available for low-income families. It might not always work out. But you owe it to your children to at least give it a try. And some support might make your life a bit easier.

Teachers and schools want to help. And if you run into someone who is not very helpful, keep asking until you find someone who does want to help.

Ask your school for support if you need it. Find out what's available. Keep looking until you find what you need. You are not alone!
